Background & Research Interests
Dr. Jenkins is a Professor of Psychology at the University of North Texas specializing in clinical personality assessment in the context of gender, relationships, and culture. She has an international reputation for her work on thematic apperceptive techniques (TATs) and other narrative assessment methods. She edited the Handbook of clinical scoring systems for thematic apperceptive techniques (New York, NY: Lawrence Erlbaum) and guest-edited a special section of the Journal of Personality Assessment containing empirical papers on TATs and a special issue of Rorschachiana on international TAT scoring systems. She has applied these scoring systems to a variety of other narrative sources such as self-defining memories and personal autobiographical essays from Pennebaker’s expressive writing interventions. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of Human Development, she worked on longitudinal data from the Berkeley Guidance Study and the Oakland Growth Study and continues to publish from those data with her students.

Dr. Jenkins and her students are currently pursuing projects that advance the science of narrative analysis with multimethod research on interpersonal problems and social cognitive assessment, the challenges facing first-generation college students, and the clinical utility of expressive writing intervention analysis as a psychotherapy facilitator.
